About
I am S. Sheng, a designer-engineer. I spent years watching teams spend three days on the part nobody quoted: the page model, the preview, the Studio an editor can actually use. I got tired of rebuilding it. Now that is the practice.
Before this I worked inside product studios on sites that had to launch, then last, then be edited by people who did not attend the kickoff. The useful skill was not visual polish. It was deciding once, writing it down, and refusing to invent a new architecture because the project felt special.
I live in London. I work remotely. I keep a small number of projects so the document still has a person attached to it.
FAQ
- 001 / What do you actually do?
- I design and build content systems — the schema, the Studio, the fetch layer, the public document. Editorial websites, archives, institutes. The architecture that sits under writing and images so they can last.
- 002 / Where are you based?
- London, working remotely. I take a small number of projects at a time. If the work needs to be on site, we can talk.
- 003 / What stack do you use?
- Next.js or Astro, Sanity, TypeScript in strict mode, Postgres when there is real data. The stack is a means. The document is the point.
- 004 / Do you work with agents?
- Yes. I write the rails they run on: AGENTS.md, typed fetchers, a Studio that is already decided. An agent with no architecture will invent a new one every session.
- 005 / Are you taking work?
- Select work. A magazine, an archive, a research org, a studio that is tired of rebuilding the page builder. Write to me with the document you wish existed.
